Since launch in 2008 feedback from users has been the most influential factor in SketchAndCalc’s development. An area calculator with surprisingly endless uses from a wide variety of industries sometimes makes it difficult for me, the developer, to prioritize which features offer the greatest return for most users.
Unusual uses of an Area Calculator
I’ve been contacted by users all over the world who are using SketchAndCalc™ in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Some of the more unusual uses have been:
A group of Australian hospitals performed a medical study to compare skin ulcer healing rates, and arrive at the optimal treatment strategy.
An electronics engineer needed to calculate the area of silicon in nanometers.
A spinal surgeon needed to compare the length of the posterior longitudinal ligament when in flexion, neutral, and extension positions.
A research scientist needed to find the area of multiple foci (cells) in an image to determine their total volume.
